Miljardbelopp används för att flytta Europaparlamentet från Bryssel till Strasbourg en gång i månaden. Jag ställde i höstas, under revisionsdebatten frågor om hur vi kan minska kostnaderna för detta spektakel.
Många har försökt få ett stopp på denna flytt fram och tillbaka, men inte lyckats eftersom Frankrike vägrar ändra fördraget där detta står inskrivet. Och Frankrike har veto. Därför fick jag nöja mig med att ställa några frågor under utskottsförhör till ansvarig generaldirektör Anna Grzybowska.
Dick Erixon: I have a couple of questions for Anna Grybowska about Strasbourg. In the discharge procedure, we could see that we have saved €380,000 by having fewer sessions in Strasbourg. And the parliament has also invested in new technology, so speakers in Brussels can participate virtually in Strasbourg.
Could you and the administration provide us with annual data about all the Strasbourg-related costs, maintenance, chartered trains, other logistics, etc., and show us what kind of expenditures could be reduced by using new technologies in a better way at the same time as we then continue with sessions in Strasbourg? Unfortunately, that is in the treaties. And what measures could we, as MEPs, support to reduce the costs for the Strasbourg project? Thank you.
Anna Grzybowska: Thank you very much for the question. I can only answer that the activities that we carry out in support of parliament’s activities in Strasbourg are monitored for efficiency, for rationalization of possibilities, and sound financial management as we strive in everything that we do. And so in general, energy efficiency, transport efficiency, this is something that we look at. It is not, I think, in the scope of my Director General to assess whether some activities could be discontinued or changed. We are there in support of what the House requires of us. Thank you.
